Harvey York's Rise to Power Chapter 4290
Chapter 4290
When Harvey York and the others returned, a dozen cars were already gathered around the place.
The police, the housing department, and even the street department were there.
Simply put, those people represented the government's joint law enforcement.
Dozens of people in uniform were completely surrounding the place, laying their hands on everything with fierce looks on their faces.
Someone was even driving their excavator with a righteous yet distant gaze.
Two bald men were standing in the very front.
One of them was taller than the other.
The other was a little stockier.
The tall one was wearing the uniform of the housing department with a tag on his chest labeled 'Samson Lee'.
The chubbier man was an inspector of the police department called Cyrus Bierstadt.
The two were usually employed by the government together to sweep out any illegal buildings.
Their target for the day was none other than Fortune Hall itself.
Cliff Saban did not show up but had already told his subordinates to guard the entrance to prevent Samson and Cyrus' men from heading inside.
After all, the fierce people would probably smash up quite a bit of the renovation inside if they could.
It would be terrible if that were to happen.
Cliff was not scared of those people, but he was terrified of how Harvey would feel if the place was completely ruined.
Dariel Jackson showed up at Fortune Hall to do more work before seeing the sight in front of him.
Cliff and Dariel wanted to show off in front of Harvey after seeing him arrive, but he quickly waved them back.
Before Harvey even said a word, Thomas Burton quickly stepped out before holding the two men's hands with a smile on his face.
"Oh? Director Lee and Director Bierstadt!"
"What brings you two here?"
"It's an honor!"
He quickly pulled out some money before respectfully handing it forward.
After all, Thomas was once a rich man who dealt with these government officials.
He wanted to deal with the problem with the least amount of trouble at this moment.
"Come! Why don't we have a few drinks at the Drunken House this afternoon? I'll report all the work here for you then!"
Then, Thomas rubbed his hands together, as if he knew what the directors were thinking.
"Step aside!"
Cyrus knew Thomas had fallen off, so he did not hesitate to push him aside.
"Enough of this! This is an official duty!"
"Get the owner here right now, or we'll shut the shop immediately!"
"And you people!"
"Every single one of you will come back with us for investigation! You're cooperating with the suspect!"
Cyrus's words were extremely fierce.
Thomas shyly leaned forward.
"Why would you do something this big anyway?"
"We can always talk things out, right?"
"We're all friends here! We..."
Slap!
Cyrus quickly slapped Thomas in the face.
"I'm not your damn friend!"
"I'm an honest and just man! Can't you tell?!"
"Let me tell you something! We've received reports saying that this shop has been scamming people recently!"
"We suspect that there are illegal documents involving the building and that the owner is a con man!"
"Cooperate with the investigation, or all of you will be charged!"
